As a part of their ongoing mission to educate the world about the benefits of body contouring after massive weight loss, doctors Aly and Cram have partnered with Ethicon a global medical device company to create an international fellowship program here in Iowa City.
Since 2005, four South American plastic surgeons have joined the Iowa City Plastic Surgery team to shadow the doctors and learn everything they can about body contouring for the massive weight loss patient. As a part of the fellowship program, each visiting surgeon is required to collect data and statistics on the subject and write articles for pertinent medical journals.
"Our fellows live here for three months to learn how to evaluate, guide and treat massive weight loss patients. Although the climate is a dramatic change for them, they are grateful to be learning from the most renowned body contouring surgeons in the world. Once they are back home, they have a tremendous amount of experience to share with their colleagues and patients,² explains Sandy Brenneman, Office Administrator.
